Saturday, March 6, 2015 marked the performance of the Beethoven A Major Sonata, Op. 69 and the Rachmaninoff Sonata for Cello and Piano, Op. 19. Also performed was the Harbison Suite for Solo Cello. The concert took place live at South Mountain Community College, Performing Arts Center in Phoenix, AZ.
This venue has a very modern, but rustic look to it.. It is sculpted with aluminum which was intended to rust over time for artistic effect. It is beautiful, and although the acoustics feel very dry from the stage, the sound resonates cleanly and clearly to every seat in the audience.
This was the second program I've had the opportunity to perform at the SMCC Performing Arts Center with my dad, Henry Rose. Our previous concert at this venue was in October 2008 when we performed the Robert Muczynski Sonata for Cello and Piano, Op. 25, Lament by Matthew Hindson, among other works by Henry Rose, Frederic Chopin, and Sergei Prokofiev. I also performed the Cello Suite, No. 1 by William Bolcom. It was a big program, and fortunately, it went well enough that we were invited to play again.

Pianist, Naoko Garrison was kind enough to turn pages for this performance... much appreciated!
