Return to the St. Mary's Episcopal Church Summer Series - June 2015

Friday, June 5, 2015, "Sophie and Friends" returned to the St. Mary's Summer Concert Series. This year we added a few fabulous performers to our ranks for a performance of Schubert's "Trout Quintet", and the Dvorak String Quartet, Op. 77.

Performing with the ensemble this year were cellist, Cony Ruiz; violinist and violist, Veronica Kannan; pianist, Janice Fehlauer; violist, Sophie Parker; violinist, Laura Cividino; bassist, Carlos Gaviria, and cellist, Melisa Rose.

Unfortunately, I did not get any photos to post of this performance. I was a little discombobulated due to a huge Memorial Day storm the week before the concert which filled my garage apartment up like a bathtub (12" of water in my house!!) During the storm, I was crouching in my bathtub with my cat and my cello.. just barely avoided getting soaked. But afterward, I had to move (in a hurry), and in the process, was not able to get all the media considerations prepared to the extent that I would have liked.

Our bassist, Carlos Gaviria was also tied up with international travel and had only returned to the States that day.. Hence, there was a modicum of exhaustion being experienced all-around.

Nevertheless, the performance was exciting and well-received. It was a pleasure and an honor to be invited back for a second time to perform in the St. Mary's Episcopal Church Summer Series for a second year in a row, and we look forward to participating in the series again next year.
